« on: July 15, 2014, 02:03:11 PM »
As I'm sure you have noticed MM got a new set of standard colors that are consistent for MM itself, this message forum and www.missionmanager.com

For anyone who wants the old school colors, you can easily do that:
  • In MM: Go to the Configuration Screen > General Configuration > Color Scheme > Select "Classic"

  • In this Message forum: Profile > Modify Profile > Look and Layout > Current Theme: (change) > " SMF Default Theme - Core" press: [Use this theme]
We hope you enjoy our new standard colors!

Announcements / New Note Pad Floating Window
« on: April 22, 2014, 12:18:31 PM »
Mission Manager now has a new floating window "Note Pad".  This is a little area where you can jot down a quick note if you don't have a pen and paper handy.  These notes are not save in the mission.  these are simply saved in the browsers cookies, so they shouldn't be considered secure by a person's login.  See the attached pic below.

Hope you find this new feature useful!

As part of the changes coming to MM, we are working on several server upgrades.  The first change in this are is all MM support will be moving to www.missionmanager.info, this include this message forum.  If you have bookmarks/links to the old site they will automatically redirect to the new site, although you may need to reenter your password.  Look for more support options coming to this site in the coming months.

As you may know, we developed Mission Manager to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of first responders.  Over the past three years more than 1,200 local, state and federal agencies have applied Mission Manager in over 4,000 missions. From the outset, it has been used in almost every major natural disaster in the U.S. including hurricanes, tornados, fires and floods. To continue to support these agencies and events, it has become clear that we must invest in Mission Manager to meet the needs of our users.  As a result, last summer we began searching for a partner who shared a vision and commitment to supporting the work of first responders and who would support improvements in Mission Manager’s operability, security, future and growth.

Mission Manager found its new home in Ambient Alert Inc., a privately held company in Poway, California that supports first responders through its incident management and communication software and FireALERT remote wildfire detection equipment. Reflecting its commitment to Mission Manager and its users, it will change its corporate name to Mission Manager Inc.

Over the next few weeks, we will be in touch with you to discuss how we can continue to make Mission Manager an even more secure and valuable platform for first responders. We want to hear how it helps you in both your daily operations and in critical events, and especially if it has let you down or failed to meet your expectations.

We have already identified several enhancements for Mission Manager that will make it a more valuable tool to our users.  These include:
•   Establishing an uptime guarantee of 99.99% through infrastructure upgrades
•   Providing 24/7 customer support with maximum response time guarantee
•   Improving security and protection of user data
•   Training – both onsite and web based
•   New features and service enhancements

You may be wondering ‘how will this change affect me’?  Rest assured that we do not intend to make any changes that will impact how you access or use Mission Manager on a daily or mission basis.  Over the next sixty days, we will evaluate different pricing mechanisms that will provide the funds necessary to maintain, strengthen, and improve Mission Manager.  We will seek your input as we do so.  Our goal is to develop a pricing model that is fair to users based on their usage, size and resources but remains as low as possible while still providing a level of funding adequate to support the product.  We also realize that there are special situations and users that do not have the financial resources to purchase our product, and we recognize a responsibility to assist them in serving their communities by providing special pricing or other arrangements.

We have one objective and one reason for being – to serve those who serve and protect us. We will be active in the first responder community, not only as a supplier of first-rate software, but as a resource to and supporter of first responders. Our team is excited and energized about contributing to the industry. It’s personal to us – Michael Bailey, Mission Manager’s original founder, created the product as an active first responder and is staying on board. Michael J. Berthelot, the new CEO, is a former member of the Civil Air Patrol and U.S. Coast Guardsman. Together, we are honored and humbled by the opportunity to work with each of you.

We appreciate that you’re a Mission Manager user, so as we move forward to make it a more effective tool, please contact us directly by email or telephone or visit our online forum to share your thoughts and concerns. We look forward to hearing from you and serving you in the future. Thank you for your service to our communities and country.

Sincerely,

« on: January 13, 2014, 04:21:08 PM »
There is now a new map layer in the Social / Media section that shows geo located YouTube videos.

Note this feature has been unavailable in YouTube for a long time and just came back on line in the last few days.  It appears there are very few videos available at this time, with time there should be more geo located videos.

Announcements / Whole Team Mission Statistics and New Subject fields
« on: December 18, 2013, 01:08:28 PM »
The following new features have been added to MM:
  • On the Reports page when not in a mission there is a new "Mission Statistics Report" button that will give you statistics on the all of your teams missions or only missions based a date range you can specify.  This is only a first cut at this report and it will get more detailed as time goes on.

  • New Subject fields Type of Subject and Outcome For Subject.  Both of these new fields have dropdowns that allow you to select a value such as "Abduction,Adult,Adult At Risk,Adult Dementia, etc." or "Alive,Alive required medical attention,Deceased, etc." respectfully to the new fields.

  • The options for the new subject fields listed above can be customized in the Team Types section of the Configuration screen.

  • On the Check In screen - If the member who is checking people into a mission has Member - Other's Information and Member - Edit Certs and Expirations Login permissions, once a member is checked in there will be a "Edit Certifications button that will appear.  Pressing this button will go directly to the Members screen with the person who was checked in selected.

A couple new features have been added to MM.  These should make productivity faster as mission gets rolling:
  • In the General screen there in the Weather section, there is a new button "Get Weather".  This button will use the Command Post GPS Location and reach out the the US National Weather Service to fill in the "Current Weather" and "Predicted Weather" fields automatically, as well as log these into the Event Log

  • On the Maps screen most everyone knows you can click anyplace on the map and a little popup appears with location information about the location you picked.  Now this popup includes "Set CP here", clicking on this will automatically set the Command Post location address and the Command Post GPS location in the General Screen.  See the attached image.
Enjoy!

PS These are partly Javascript changes you may need to refresh (F5) the Map and General screen for these new features to work.

Announcements / Other Languages Support (beta)
« on: December 04, 2013, 01:36:29 PM »
If you've checked the "Show Map" button on the main MM login screen lately, you may have noticed MM is growing extensively outside the US.  While a lot of these countries are English speaking, many are not.  We've been getting requests to support MM in other languages and we know some teams have customized as many Configuration settings as they can in their native language.  Today we are happy to report MM is now available in 72 languages!  Thanks to Google's Website Translation Service.

To use MM in another language other than English:  Check the new setting "Use Other Language" in the General Configuration section of the Configuration screen.   Turning on this option will enable a dropdown box in the upper right of all MM screens, where you can select a language.   Note: if you experiment with this, note you will be turning this feature on for your whole team.

This is a beta feature for now and should be considered experimental.  As you might guess translating into 72 different languages has side effects.  There may be features that do not work with these other languages, as well as buttons, tables, etc. that do not fit the translated text.  We have made a first pass and made the corrections needed for many of the language tested, but if you find a something that doesn't work with a language you want to use let us know and we'll do our best to fix it.

A really nice thing about the Google Website Translation Service is you can make suggestions for better translations.  By holding the mouse over a piece of translated text in a MM Web Page a small dialog will pop up and you can contribute a suggestion for a better translation in your native language.

The following two images show what MM looks like in Chinese and Russian:

Announcements / Feedback Wanted for New Mission Types
« on: November 21, 2013, 08:26:31 AM »
Mission Manager continues to grow in more emergency response areas.  We've seen its use for: the Rim Fire in Yosemite, last year's Hurricanes, Colorado and New Mexico Flooding earlier this year, Tornados in the Mid-West, and even the recent Philippines disaster.

To better support these missions, we would like to add several new default mission types and we'd like your feed back!  Can we get your thoughts on what the Mission Check List Items should be for the following mission types:
  • Severe Weather
  • Flooding
  • Earthquake
  • Wildfire
Thanks for your feedback!
