Feature Requests and Issues / Google Maps Issues
« on: January 15, 2016, 03:48:54 PM »
I've had a problem with google maps that I think showed up in the past month or so.  I can't use Google Streets or Google Physical maps unless I first select Google Satellite or Google Hybrid maps.  Once I look at the satellite maps, I can use all of the google maps normally, until open a new browser window.

I've seen this on both Chrome and Firefox browsers, Windows and Linux machines.  I have also seen this both logged into my account and not.

Feature Requests and Issues / Plans tab
« on: November 06, 2014, 06:20:05 PM »
Could you add a tab that is nearly identical to the Teams tab,  but for the Plans section?  We don't currently have a good place for the Plans section to work.  They typically write their plans in the Teams tab, but someone in Operations frequently assigns a plan before it's finished, or changes it on accident.  I think this has happened at most searches I've worked on.

I think ideally, I'd like to see a new tab called Plans, or something similar, Objectives and Notes fields similar to the Teams tab.  We could probably dispense with all the personnel stuff.  A short text field for Recommended Resources and one for Priority would be very useful, particularly if we could sort the plans by priority.

I've been loving the ability to login to the accounts for both of my teams with one set of credentials.  Lately I've been needing to switch back and forth a bit for some administrative tasks, and it seems to require me to log out, then log back in.  I tried making a browser link to this:
https://www.radishworks.com/MissionManager/Login.php?Page=MultiTeam
...but that doesn't seem to work.  Is there an easy way to do this?  Maybe a new button or link down by the "Logout" and "Change Password" stuff would work.

Feature Requests and Issues / Map Layer Request
« on: August 18, 2013, 10:55:27 PM »
I think adding overlays for cell coverage or tower locations of the big national service providers would be very useful.  I'm often hunting around for that information and having it in Mission Manager would be great.

Unfortunately, when I did a little poking around I didn't find much in the way of data sources.  The most promising thing I found was a planned API by the folks at OpenSignal, but I don't think it's quite what we want.

General Mission Manager Discussion / SPOT Team Tracking
« on: June 23, 2013, 10:35:22 PM »
I recently had a SAR colleague ask me about integrating the SPOT service with Mission Manager to track field teams.  I know next to nothing about SPOT, but after reading the Post Location API, I can't imagine it would be that hard to write a script to dump the data into a mission.  Does anyone know anything about how the SPOT service works?  Do they have an API that we could hook up to?

Feature Requests and Issues / Calendars, Emails and Privacy
« on: June 06, 2013, 11:57:39 AM »
After getting added to a new team's Mission Manager account recently, I came across a new issue.  There are people on that team who can make calendar items that send me notifications,  but I don't know who these people are or have their email addresses.  Since I don't have permission to see contact info for all the units on this team, I can't look them up to send an email and ask a question.

Can you add a button to calendar events that brings up a form and sends them an email from me, so I can ask things like "Can I come to this event?"?  That would allow me to ask questions, give them my email address, and let them decide if they want to respond and how.

Feature Requests and Issues / Custom Roster Printing Issue
« on: February 28, 2013, 07:17:30 PM »
I'm having trouble printing a member roster.  When I deselect items, like Division and ID, they still show up on the printout.  The 'Lines per page' portion seems to work correctly.  I've tried it in firefox and chrome.

Feature Requests and Issues / Calendar Maybe Responses
« on: February 12, 2013, 07:30:44 PM »
I often respond 'Maybe' early on to calendar emails.  Most of my team uses the "until member responds" option, so I forget to decide when the event nears.  Could you add a check-box for "Continue receiving notifications" when someone responds 'Maybe'?

General Mission Manager Discussion / Missing Certification
« on: December 20, 2012, 10:11:09 PM »
I've been trying to sort out a strange issue and I think I'm about out of ideas.  My team uses the default "Join Date" field and I recently asked people to check theirs and notify me if they didn't match with when they came on the team.  I got a response that no one can see their join dates under certifications and expirations.  I made a test account and it looks like the join date is only visible if "Edit Certs and Expirations" is checked, which I don't want to check for everyone.  Any idea what's going on?

Feature Requests and Issues / Field Qualification Reports
« on: October 15, 2012, 03:45:17 PM »
Can you add a field to the certification status report that shows "Field Qualified" or "Not Field Qualified"?  I think it would help my team keep track of new team members who need to get the non-expiring items done like NIMS and pack checks.

Feature Requests and Issues / Filtered Member Printouts
« on: October 12, 2012, 07:19:56 AM »
I may have found a little problem.  When I try to print from the member screen (roster, cert status...) if I have a unit selected as a filter, I get a blank page with nothing but a header.  If I turn off the filter, everything works normally.

General Mission Manager Discussion / Multiple Accounts and Emails
« on: October 10, 2012, 10:05:04 AM »
Because of how SAR is organized in my county, people on my team have ended up with two Mission Manager accounts for two different teams.  We've found that you can use the same email address for two different accounts if your passwords are different.  I'm wondering if it's a bad idea to do this in practice.  I can envision problems with password resets and messaging, but don't quite know all the implications.  Anyone have thoughts?
One solution is to simply use different email addresses, which several people do.  I'm wondering if I should make this a mandatory policy or if I should let the free-for-all continue.

Feature Requests and Issues / Advanced Import
« on: October 10, 2012, 09:31:10 AM »
I've got two ideas to improve the advanced import feature.  Here they are:
  • An option to search the top row in the .csv for headers, and auto fill them to the column
  • Alphabetize the options in the drop down menus for when the auto complete doesn't get it right
The report after importing is also a little confusing, but I'm not sure how to improve it.  I just imported 1 test member (an update of an existing member, actually) and it said something along the lines of "Finished importing 106 members".  I checked and only the one came in, so it worked how I expected, but the 106 members thing made me a little nervous.

Announcements / Applied Math for Search & Rescue
« on: October 09, 2012, 09:46:19 PM »
For anyone who's interested, I recently started a new website called SAR Math to discuss applied mathematics as it relates to Search and Rescue.  Right now it's mostly explanations of subjects, but there are a few handy dandy calculators for SAR applications.  More tools are on the way.
If you are interested, have a look.  If you have an idea for a topic or would like to contribute, let me know.  Right now, some parts that may be interesting to Mission Manager users are:
There's lots more to come, and feel free to make requests. http://sarmath.com/

Feature Requests and Issues / Feedback from SAREX 2012 Class
« on: September 09, 2012, 09:45:22 AM »
First off, thanks to Mike for all the great support and thanks to everyone who put SAREX together and attended the Mission Manager class.  A few questions have come up this weekend which have given me some ideas for new features.  Some are certainly easier to implement than others, but I figured it would be good to put my thoughts down in the forum for others to chime in on.
  • Obtaining a terrain profile along a path would be a nice feature to have for some users.  Obviously this one could be tough from a programming standpoint, but for communications planning and moving ground resources, it can be a useful tool.
  • Once a marker is placed, the only way to move it is with drag and drop.  It would be handy sometimes to be able to move a marker by entering new coordinates.
  • Saved view sets would be awesome.  I'm thinking of just saving which map elements are checked and which are not with an associated name.  I don't know of a clean way of adding this to the map page layout, but I have a few ideas if it's a feasible idea.  This would be a way to hang onto things like Plans and Ops maps, or Division A and B, or un-clutter different operational periods.
  • I saw another mapping program that has a feature allowing a path (or track) to be split at a selected location.  This looked handy for the field team GPS download that includes the assignment along with their last trip to Disney Land and the backpacking trip they went on last year.  After splitting the track, you can delete the non-mission stuff.
That's all I've got for the moment.  I know some of these could be really tough to implement, but figured I'd share anyway.
