Announcements / MISSION MANAGER Cessation of Operations
« on: April 08, 2024, 11:27:18 AM »
Dear MISSION MANAGER Users!

This is to inform you that Mission Manager, Inc., which provides the cloud-based subscription application called MISSION MANAGER, no longer has sufficient customer revenue necessary to support continuation of the service on even a minimally adequate basis and expects to cease operations within the next few days.

It is also expected that the server site hosting MISSION MANAGER will terminate access to the application within days, rendering it inaccessible to all users.

As an active user of MISSION MANAGER, should you require your account data for future use in an alternative application, it is imperative that you download this data as soon as possible.

Over the years, MISSION MANAGER has been greatly valued by its users and our small Mission Manager development and support team have certainly perceived this application as a public service. This makes it doubly hard for us to be in the position of having MISSION MANAGER cease operations.

We thank you for your belief in MISSION MANAGER and for the on-going service you are providing to your communities.

Our best,
The Mission Manager Board of Directors

Announcements / Mission Manager Maintenance Outage - Phase 2
« on: February 16, 2024, 09:03:44 PM »
Dear Mission Manager User!

Beginning Sunday, February 18th, 2024, at 14.00 Pacific Standard Time, Mission Manager (MM) will be offline and unavailable for approximately 6-8 hours.

This will be due to the next phase of the implementation of significant speed and security upgrades in the server environment that runs MM along with corresponding code updates in our MM application.

These changes are necessary to comply with the ever more restricting security requirements being implemented by our hosting provider, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and by the various phone, email and text messaging service providers that our customers depend on and utilize, through MM, for their various communication requirements.

We want to reassure you that we are giving this upgrade our highest priority and apologize for any inconvenience this maintenance outage may be causing you.

Obviously, MM being unavailable to our clients for any period is a serious matter, and therefore we are providing you with ample notice to pre-plan this down-time in MM should you have a mission in process during this time frame. We chose the timing of this upgrade to coincide with MM’s lowest usage statistics.

If you are logged into MM when this upgrade begins, you will be automatically logged out. If you try to log in, you will see a message screen letting you know that MM is offline.
Mission Manager saves user inputs each time you tab away from an entry field. Therefore, you will not lose any data during this update process. All MM generated email calendar notifications will not be lost but ‘collected’ during the update and sent out once the update process is completed.

Please note that communication via Twilio will not be available during the upgrade installation.

Thank you for being a valued user of Mission Manager and for your understanding and patience!

If you experience any abnormalities when utilizing Mission Manager after 21:00 PST Sunday, February 18th, please contact Technical Support at techsupport@missionmanager.com or 619-457-6120 immediately.

To repeat, these changes are necessary to comply with the ever more restricting security requirements being implemented by our hosting provider, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and by the various phone, email and text messaging service providers that our customers depend on and utilize, through MM, for their various communication requirements.

As always, we will keep our Users informed of these upcoming Maintenance Events and want to reassure you that we are giving these upgrades our highest priority.

Announcements / Emails not reaching Recipients
« on: November 21, 2023, 09:19:47 PM »
Dear Mission Manager User!

It has just been brought to our attention that certain emails sent from either the “Messages” tab or from automated  “Calendar Reminders” within Mission Manager are not always being received by the intended recipients.
Our initial discovery has uncovered that some Gmail users are being affected. This is likely due to new email security criteria just implemented by Google’s Gmail client.
Understanding how important uninterrupted email communications are between Team Members, we are working diligently to resolve this new issue and would like to apologize to all affected users. We will keep you informed as we progress to a solution.

Thank you for being a valued Mission Manager user and for your understanding and patience!

Dear Mission Manager User!

Mission Manager (MM) will be offline and unavailable for approximately 2 hours beginning 23:00 Pacific Time, Saturday, September 23rd , 2023. This is due to the implementation of the 2nd step on a sequence of software upgrades with our MM application.

As previously reported, Mission Manager is in the process of mitigating a problem that restricts Calendar Event Notifications (e.g. reminders and RSVP’s) from being sent out. Callouts and emails sent from the Messages tab are not impacted by this problem.

Please see also our announcement on Mission Manager’s Forum from yesterday, September 21st , 2023.

We will inform you as soon as this issue has been fully resolved.

Announcements / Calendar Event related notifications issue: Update
« on: September 21, 2023, 10:39:25 PM »
Dear Mission Manager User!

On June 21st, 2023, we notified our users of problems we were encountering with Calendar Event related notifications not being sent out (Reminders, RSVPs, etc.).

We finally concluded that Microsoft’s recently updated security protocols were at the root of the problems we were experiencing. After significant engineering effort, that has involved us adapting our communication protocols to work with Microsoft’s new email security standards, our email and email-to-text applications are now, once again, functional. We are currently performing final testing of our updated communication protocols before releasing this update.
Whilst we have been diligently working to resolve these issues, some of our users may have experienced a number of unexpected emails and/or notifications. These unfortunate occurrences were the result of the original development work and, more recently, the extensive testing we have been performing that inadvertently caused a small backlog of messages to be sent.  You may have experienced this just last week.

We sincerely apologize for any confusion and inconvenience these occurrences may have caused you and your team.  We are working diligently  to resolving any remaining issues as we prepare to release our updated communication protocols that now comply with Microsoft’s recently updated security protocols!

Please watch out for the next major code maintenance/upgrade event scheduled for this coming Saturday night, September 23rd, 2023.
A specific announcement regarding this event will be made on the Forum as well as on our MM log-in page.

Another challenge for emails being sent from within Mission Manager via the ‘Messages’ tab, which at times resulted in bounced emails, is related to the default method for any Mission Manager Team Account using the free email-to-text gateway that most phone carriers so far have allowed but are now increasingly restricting such free usage.

The original Text is sent via email to the formatted address of the individual mobile phone number of all intended recipients of the text message. Though free to use, due to efforts by the individual carriers to mitigate spam, this method has increasingly shown issues such as bounced emails, absorption as spam, etc., especially if Teams send out large numbers of email-to-text messages at any one time.

To mitigate this challenge, MM’s customers are encouraged to utilize a ‘true native text’ Messager Service such as Twilio. This alternative method from within Mission Manager has been available for some time and has been adopted by an increasing number of our customers, especially the ones who already utilize Twilio for their call messaging.
Please see our MM Help Wiki under the help topic ‘Messages’ for further information.

Thank you again for your understanding and patience!
