Feature Requests and Issues / Time Keeping Report Mission Count
« on: October 04, 2011, 10:21:01 PM »
I noticed that when I print a participation report that I don't get an accurate # of missions count. For example, this month we had 3 missions logged in MM, and I attended all of them, yet my record shows zero for the mission total.

The bulk of our calls are in the support of other teams. As such, I don't often use MM to manage an actual mission. So that I have a mission log for my members, I do check in people (from my team only) in MM as they respond, but that doesn't seem to translate into # of missions. From where is the mission count number in the time keeping report pulled? Also, how are trainings and fundraising efforts differentiated?

Thanks,
JL

Feature Requests and Issues / Database Archive
« on: September 28, 2011, 01:01:34 PM »
With the data export feature now available for the time keeping options, it has greatly improved our data portability. This has been very helpful. Is there any way to be obtain a periodic database archive of all  the team's info? Something that could be emailed or available via a link. This would enable the data to be mined should there be a catastrophic server failure or, more likely, a personnel failure. I'm thinking that it wouldn't have to be something that could necessarily be re-uploaded into the system, but just the tables of info that could manually be searched in the event that something gets fouled. Any thoughts or ideas?

Feature Requests and Issues / Training Log
« on: September 18, 2011, 08:23:02 PM »
I think that I saw this discussed previously, but I couldn't find anything in a search. I am sorry if it has already been batted about...

It would be nice to have the ability to document training activities similar to missions. It doesn't need all of the functionality of a mission, but it would be nice to take all of the people who have RSVP'ed to a training event, and have them associated with a short narrative (who, what, where, when) about the training. It would be nice to capture those things in Mission Manager. It would also help planning in subsequent years.

Thoughts?

Feature Requests and Issues / Twilio
« on: September 07, 2011, 01:56:24 PM »
I've used the voice synthesis call feature before, but it didn't seem to work today. I have two MM accounts. I have used the same Auth token and ID for both accounts. Is this cool? Today, when I sent the message from MM it didn't go to the recipients. Just checking whether it is Twilio or MM or me.

This is part feature request and part usage question...

Due to the structure of our county, my team is rarely the lead team in any SAR mission. We are in-county mutual aid for other teams. As such, there are many times where we are involved, but we aren't using MM to document the mission. Is there a way that I can use the calendar to track attendance at missions? It would be nice to have a manual after-the-fact RSVP feature where I can add the calendar event then manually indicate who was there. The would then create the time keeping entries, and I could track it that way. It would also standardize what people call a particular mission.

Feature Requests and Issues / Time Keeping Export
« on: September 02, 2011, 11:12:46 PM »
For the past couple of years my folks have been submitting their hours via a Google form. I then summarize the data and submit it to the sheriff's office on their form. We are in the process of transitioning to MM, and my people have been asking for a data export button. Is there anyway to get a delimited text file of time keeping data, and other information?

Thanks,

Feature Requests and Issues / Data Loss in a Sync and a few other things
« on: August 23, 2011, 05:21:54 PM »
A week or so ago, we ran a cave rescue scenario at Mitchell Caverns just north of I-40 in the desert. My original plan was to run this totally offline because I knew that cell service was spotty at best, and I didn't order the sat truck in time for it to deploy (scheduled maintenance). Here are my observations:

I synced the mission on my way out the door. When I arrived I got everybody checked-in without incident. When I went to create team assignment forms, however, it seemed that they didn't want to print unless there was a net connection. Is this true? When this seemed to be the case, I fired up a Verizon data connection that was slow with high latency. This slow connection made use of MM VERY slow. A drag and drop of a team member into a team took several seconds. But, the connection did allow me to print forms. After several minutes of doing this, I decided to return to an offline state after a sync.

When I returned to working offline, things were much faster, but my radio log was gone. I had been keeping the radio log when offline. When I fired up the connection, I synced the offline mission. After completing my stint online, I synced it with the offline mission again. All of my radio log data disappeared, and my team assignments were fouled up. I ended up with the same person entered twice in a team list, but yet they wouldn't print as being part of the team. I would have to remove them completely and re-add them.

My guess is that there was some sort of timing out going on in the sync process, and it was deferring to the online version (no radio log). Any ideas?

I ran into a couple of other things. These I haven't searched for in the fora, so I am sorry if they have already been discussed.

I noticed that there was a limitation to the number of people on a team (8 or 9, I can't remember). Normally this is fine, and I suspect it has to do with span of control. Cave rescues are resource intensive, and it can take 10 or more people just to move a litter around under ground. As such, when I had a couple of teams combine, I couldn't assemble them into a single team the way that they were working.

I also found that I couldn't have the same person serve as ops and IC. Depending on the scope of the incident, a single person may serve in multiple sections. Maybe that was an issue with the lagginess of my connection. Yes?

Thanks,
JL

Feature Requests and Issues / Bad Activation
« on: August 23, 2011, 05:04:05 PM »
I attempted to set up an additional account for another team in my county, the incident management team. I went through the motions using a different email address for my regular team, and a different user name.

I received the activation link in an email, and when I clicked it, it said that the activation was bad, and to try again. When I tried again, it said that the user already existed. When I tried to login, without going through the activation, it said that I needed to activate. Ideas?

As I type this, I have thought of another issue. That is, what about users across accounts. After previous conversations, it was suggested that our multiple team set up in San Berdoo County would be better served by each team having their own account. In this case, I am making a team that will be made up of people already on an existing team. I suspect that it won't tolerate the same email address/username. Is this correct? If I am jlehman@sbsar.org on one team account, I can't be jlehman@sbsar.org in another account as well. Is this true?

Feature Requests and Issues / Unit and Rank in "Messages" Tab
« on: August 12, 2011, 08:50:23 AM »
After running through various use cases, I changed our use of the "Unit" and "Rank" fields. So, I changed the entries in the "Config" tab, and redid each member's record. When I view the member list for sending a message, the list is not populated with the current rank and unit information. It seems to maintain the previous values.

Feature Requests and Issues / Paragraph breaks in "General" Mission Tab
« on: August 10, 2011, 06:36:06 PM »
I was entering some general mission description and I noticed that if I hit <return> in an effort to make a paragraph break, it takes me to the next data field. I would expect <tab> to do that. I tried <shift><return>, but that didn't work either.

Upon looking at the "General Briefing" report, I see what the issue is. There is a limited amount of space on the form, so everything gets goofed up if I type as much as I did in that field.

General Mission Manager Discussion / Commo Plan
« on: August 10, 2011, 11:07:13 AM »
Quick question...Is the Commo Plan report supposed to be partially populated with the radio info in the "General" missions tab? There is more info in the commo plan, so it may be better suited for filling out by hand. Just checking.

This is a strange one. This only happens on a single computer, but I thought I would mention it anyway.

When I sync a mission for offline use, it doesn't appear in the offline missions. It goes through all of the motions, but the box never gets populated with the name. If I disable the WiFi radio, and attempt to access it, there is no record of it. I have removed the appcache and resynced, refreshed, and still the same result. Any ideas?

This only seems to happen with this little netbook. My larger laptop, and desktop work as expected. The two laptops are WinXP.

General Mission Manager Discussion / Guest Accounts and Multiple Teams
« on: August 07, 2011, 02:31:37 PM »
In the county in which I serve, there are 18 search and rescue teams. Most of these are geographic, and some of them are specific to a function (equestrian, canine, etc.). Earlier there was a thread regarding guest access and management functions. I have a question that expands upon this.

Nearly every mission is a multi-team mission. This means that there are members from several teams that participate in both the management and operation of the incident. At first I thought that we would have a single account for the county, and use the "unit" field to differentiate between the teams. This proved to be impractical because each team has different back-end requirements (different cert requirements, organizational structure, calendars, etc).  I then thought that each team would have a separate account, but that complicates the mission management since there are issues in getting guests into the system (when offline), and guests don't have any management privs.

For example, what happens when a particular team is primarily responsible for a search. Chances are, it is their account that will be used for the management. Now, all the searchers from other teams will have to be entered into the system as guest users. This gets complicated if you are required to work offline, as there is no provision for offline guest users. OK, I  could just get rosters from all the teams ahead of time, and each team could populate the other teams as guest users in their individual accounts. This could work, but guest users are not able to login and perform management functions. Now I am back to thinking a single account for the whole county.

So, what is the best way to structure MM for use in this environment? I suppose we could have a county-wide account that has everybody in the system, and use it for these sorts of events. This would allow mission management outside of the team management (certs, hours, equip, etc). Maybe some functionality that would allow some sort of sync between accounts would be helpful. I am not certain. Any ideas?

Unfortunately, web access is not available in many of our search locations, so I have to plan for an offline experience. This is one of the reasons, that I have proposed the idea of a field server model where the whole thing could be run from a central computer offline (http://www.radishworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=80.0).

Any ideas are appreciated.

Feature Requests and Issues / Event Sign-in Sheet
« on: August 05, 2011, 04:28:00 PM »
I noticed that when I go to print out an event sign-in sheet, that all of the sample accounts also print. I have marked all of the sample members as terminated. Any way I can keep them from showing up on the printout? Also, is there a way I can keep the guest accounts from showing up? It seems that I can only select by unit, but that doesn't help us much since we don't have different units, and I have been using that field to track status (full, probationary, support, etc)
