General Mission Manager Discussion / Re: Offline Use
« on: August 01, 2011, 09:41:11 AM »
That seemed to do the trick with getting to the login screen, but none of my user data seems to be available. If I click on the "Check-In" screen and input a name in the members list, it says that the ID is not available.  I completed your suggestion of activating some of the sample members, and their data is not there as well. I am making sure that I wait for all the data to get downloaded and synced, but it doesn't seem to be getting the member data. Any ideas?

I can't get things to work. It has now gone back to the app being unreachable. I activated a few sample members, and when I went to access things offline, I got the unreachable error again.

It seems that I can access things offline, but my members aren't being transferred. I have synced and cached, and there is a file count as it goes through the process. When I then go to check people in, it doesn't have anybody in the database, and it doesn't allow for me to create anybody. It says, "Member ID not found or not active, please see command staff". I double checked that all members are set to active. I have waited for all files to sync.

A further wrinkle... It seems that all my missions have disappeared. This isn't a big deal as there wasn't any "real" mission data, but they are no longer there (including the one that I created for online use), and I no longer have the option of creating an online mission. My user permission should allow me to do such things. Ideas?

General Mission Manager Discussion / Offline Use
« on: July 30, 2011, 12:29:52 AM »
I created a mission, and downloaded it for offline use. It is part of an exercise for a rescue class that my team is running. I knew I was going to be in an area with zero cell coverage, so I wanted to use MM in offline mode.  I fired up the laptop and pointed the browser to http://www.radishworks.com/SearchManager/Login.php . I got a message saying that "Mission Manager Offline Extension: The app is currently unreachable". Did I foul something up? I am running Chrome on an XP machine. What's the best way to run things offline, and are there optimum cache settings?

Thanks,
JL

General Mission Manager Discussion / Offline File Storage

Anybody know where the offline data is stored? I suspect that it is a browser issue, but it would be nice to specify if, as in the case of the machine I am working on, a drive partition is filling up and I would like to put it elsewhere.

While I haven't used MM in an actual mission, yet, I have worked many and I'm thinking of the various usage scenarios.

A number of popular mission locations in our county are in areas of zero cell availability. The county does have sat comm resources available, but they are usually present in the 2nd or 3rd operational period (if at all). This means that our data connection to the net is severely compromised.

The normal workflow is for check-in to be located in a place that is easily accessible to responding personnel, and planning to be co-located with computer and other resources. Planning periodically receives the resource info and makes assignments accordingly. If we don't have a good net connection, then what is the easiest way to get info from the check-in computer to the planning computer? How about a computer used at the radio station. If they are entering info live, then it would be useful to planning as well.

Probably the easiest way is with a member export from the check-in box and member import to the planning computer, but I don't know how that would play with the check-in info. Also, I don't remember being able to set a guest account flag or set other attributes on the import.

My supposition is that sneaker net is still the easiest. There could be a centrally designated computer that would eventually receive all of the info. The satellite computers (check-in, radio log, etc) could then sync their mission info with a flash drive, and that could then be synced with the planning computer so that all information is available to that box.

A fancier solution to this would be to initiate a server process on the planning computer, and have all the syncing via a local wireless network that would allow all of the satellite computers to upload their data to the on-site server. This would allow all resources available to everybody and it could later be uploaded when there was a net connection.

What do you think of a "field server" model?

General Mission Manager Discussion / SMTP Settings
« on: July 24, 2011, 04:04:01 PM »
The help files refers to outgoing SMTP settings in the configuration screen, but I can't seem to find anything but a return address. Is it possible to route the outgoing messages through my own domain?
