Feature Requests and Issues / Wind map
« on: April 05, 2012, 10:08:50 AM »
One of our members sent me this link to a national wind map.  It is updated hourly.  Not that this is something that you would actually hardwire into MM, but an interesting link that might be useful.

General Mission Manager Discussion / Anyone running non-Windows
« on: February 03, 2012, 04:22:23 PM »
Is anyone running Mission Manager using something other than a Windows variant?  I have the opportunity to pick up some Toughbooks that have been reformatted and now have no Operating System.  Rather that pay Microsoft, I would rather load a free OS, provided it will work.  I was looking at Linux Ubuntu, and it looks like it will fit the bill.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Feature Requests and Issues / Access to Maps with Elements
« on: February 03, 2012, 10:47:13 AM »
Under our general (not mission specific) Maps tab, I added a number of locations we commonly use: department offices, vendors, staging/receiving locations, etc.  They work great, for me.  No one else on the team sees them when they pull up the map.  There is nothing in the left-hand column for them to click on.  I was just working with one of my team members and changed her access from limited all the way up to full, and there was no change.  I even had her log off & on and a page refresh, to no effect.  What am I missing?

General Mission Manager Discussion / Calendar went crazy
« on: January 30, 2012, 12:01:35 PM »
I added a training event for next month and set it to request an RSVP, with two reminders: one today and one next week.  Shortly thereafter, I got a call from a couple of my team members that they were getting multiple (as many as 200) e-mails that looked like this:

I was also in the same team, but only received the one reminder.  I did RSVP when I made the calendar entry, but I have only hear from two people on my team so far.  Did I do something wrong, or can I blame it on sunspot activity?

Feature Requests and Issues / Team Name Show Only?
« on: January 29, 2012, 04:54:37 PM »
Our group has several affiliated organizations whose members we need to track during a disaster/emergency response, but we have a core group that will be coordinating the response and are the only ones who will have access to MM.  I have entered all personnel in all groups already, and given them a Team designation based upon their affiliation.  Is it possible to set a show-only for Team so the Calendar or Messaging won't send info to the other 70 people that we don't want/need at our specialized training or events?

Here are some specifics: Our core group is SDCART (San Diego County Animal Response Team) and consists of 13 members, three of which are employees of the County Department of Animal Services (DAS).  The rest of us are volunteers.  According to the County's Disaster Plan, during a declared disaster the DAS is in charge of all animal rescue responses in the County.  The mission of our group is to coordinate all response by all animal rescue groups in the county.  As there are only 13 of us, we have to rely upon other groups to succeed.  One of those groups is the DAS Animal Control Officers,  Generally, they will be driving trucks and trailers under our direct or remote supervision.  They do not train with us, but I need to track their information for emergency responses.  Another group is the SD Humane Society's Animal Rescue Reserve.  This group has about 50 members and they do their own training.

We sometimes attend their trainings, but don't need to keep track of their personnel except during a mutual response, where Teams get blended depending upon needs and talents.  There is also another small group (and we expect more to develop) that are being formed as parts of local Community Emergency Response Teams(CERTs).  For these teams, they also do their own trainings although we provide some trainings and test them to see if they have the minimum skills required by DAS to be allowed to work behind disaster lines as part of our overall response.  Similar to ARR, we will not be tracking them except during mutual response.

With each of these groups I have designated them as different Teams (SDCART, DAS, SDHSARR, VCLAST, etc.).  Most of the people I entered as Guest, so I can sort them out on Messaging and Calendar.  But the DAS officers all got a message this week when I updated the Calendar training announcement that was only intended for SDCART members.   Boy, were they surprised about the training!  The Sort By Team works, but I have to remember to uncheck all and then recheck just the SDCART members every time I schedule something or send a message.  Any thoughts on how I could do this easily is appreciated.
