Calendar Export
« on: May 19, 2012, 12:19:46 PM »
I had a bit of a panic recently when I realized that Mother's Day was only 3 days away, so I've decided to get all my calendars in one spot, and I had some trouble with the Mission Manager "Export Calendar" button.  It turns out you get errors trying to import into Google Calendar.  The current work-around is to import to outlook, export a .CSV and then import to Google.

I did some experimenting and I think I found the problem.  The body of the SUMMARY, DESCRIPTION and LOCATION fields (maybe others?) need some escape characters.  I found this thread and tried it out on a single event.  Success!  The only confusing bit for me was with the colons.  Basically, just don't to anything to them and they import just fine.

I stole this from the thread:

  • For double quote use: DQUOTE
  • For a comma use: \,
  • For a colon use: ":"
  • For a semicolon use: \;
  • For a back-slash use \\
  • For a new line use \n or \N

Good catch and thanks for the research.   Should be fixed now.
