New members cant edit info
« on: August 13, 2012, 08:13:26 AM »
I added several new members and when they log in they can not make changes to their personnel info.  They can add time keeping events.  I have them set for access to their info and read only on others.

Seems to be working OK here.  When you say "can't edit", what happens when they try to edit?  i.e. can't type in the field, doesn't save?  etc.  Can you post a screen shot of all the permissions you have set for these new members?

It acts like its in read only mode for them.  I logged in on one of their logins and the fields are all lite color and there is no cursor access to the field.  Works fine for time keeping.  I will see what I can do for a screen print of their log in permissions.

Here is the screen print.  Not sure if this might have anything to do with it but our Secretary was adding these guys and I went in to check to make sure everything was correct and that was when we figured that he couldnt see the "read only" box.  I selected the box for all of them.

Thx

Also I completely deleted two of them and than re-added them.  No change they still are in "read only" mode for the Members tab.

Still trying diff. stuff.  I changed one of them "Orstrom" to the "basic" setting and than logged in with his info.  I added a ID number but when I log in on my log-in the ID number doesn't show.  If I log back in with his info the number is there.

Is there a way to completely wipe from your database the last 11 members (should have all been entered the same day last week) plus one I entered last night to play with (which seems to work ok).  The deleting from my end doesnt fix the problem.

Thanks

Thanks for all the detailed information.  This was a tricky issue, but I think its all sorted out now.  I found the problem that was causing the ID number not to save, its fixed.  This was a very special case related to your team's database.  I wasn't able to reproduce the fields being grayed out.  (With the exception of the rank, squad, unit fields all the way to the right - these are not editable by design unless the logged in person has "Member - Certs and Expirations" rights.)

Hopefully all is well, if not let me know.

Mike

It looks like its working at least with the one I have log in info for.   I do notice that even though Orstrom doesn't have access to certs that the far right (unit, radio number etc..) is available for him to change.  This is not a issue with us so you don't have to worry about it.  Just mentioning it because it sounds like that isn't the plan for the program.

Thanks and sorry for the extra work, wish I knew what we had done.
