Different radio channels for different teams
« on: August 12, 2013, 10:33:34 AM »
During our training yesterday, we were trying different options to better tailor MM to our team's needs.  We noticed that, while in a mission, under the General tab we list the Command channels and TAC channels.  When we go to the Team tab, we cannot specify which of those channels are being assigned to a specific team.  When we print the Team Assignment, all of the channels are listed.  How are teams handling this?

Also, it would be nice if there were a place on the Mission General tab where we could list the cell phone of the ICP, and that was also printed on the assignment sheet.  In our last field drill, we simulated a loss of the 800 MHz radio system.  Teams couldn't figure out why we weren't answering them on the radio and didn't know the phone number of the ICP.

Good questions.  Another case of finding that balance of keeping MM simple and the need for more complex features.  An early prototype of MM had a more more complex radio channel entries but it was too complex and was scaled back to simple version it is today.

Would the team notes section work for this case?

Another good idea, I've seen missions where the ICP phone number was needed too.  Again the Team Notes section might work.  Another idea might be to include the ICP phone number in the Command Post Name: or Command Post Location: on the General screen, as both of these print on the Team Assignment sheet.  I will add a command post phone number on the General Screen as a wish list item.

Thanks for adding the phone number.  I think the notes box will work to designate a specific channel for the assignment.  It also allows the team to see all the channels we are using, in case they can't get us on their assigned channels for some reason.

Not wishing to pick too many nits, but can you adjust the default font size for the information printed in the Tactical Channel and Command Channel boxes?  When I print the Assignment sheet, the font is so big it exceeds the size of the box, especially now with the phone number going into the Command Channel box.

There is a new "Phone #" box in the form.  You may need to refresh the printed form (F5) or clear your browser cache, it may be showing an old version of the form.

Clearing the Cache did it.  Thanks for the font adjustment.  Looks good now.
