Hi,

Is it possible to add a new field to the member's screen that is only editable by admins?

Yes and no. How many people would you want to edit that field?  If the answer is just a few high level admins, then the answer is probably no.

Here's the yes part. The Certifications and Expirations area of the Members screen requires a permission to edit. In general, that area is not meant to be edited by a team member or they could change their own expiration dates which is not ideal. However, normally the trainers or supervisors on your team are trusted to have the ability to edit expiration dates and so they could also change the new field you want to add to that area.

If that is okay and you want to proceed, I would suggest customizing the Member Certification String in the Configuration screen. That is in the
  • Member Field section.

Thank you for the quick reply, but we do allow most of the members to edit their own stuff. We consider our members adults and responsible for their own inputs for their certificates.

I was hoping to have something that could be added to the member field qualified screen (where the name, address, phone, etc reside). We were thinking of a date field in this box to denote when a member had their background screening done. Any ideas?

The Certifications and Expirations section was set up for what you want, so there is not a field for what you want.

But I got an idea from someone here in the office. How about uploading a document with the more sensitive information and restricting access using permissions? This would be the permissions in the upload section of Documents, not in the Configuration screen. You can restrict access to a few people or a whole unit.

Thanks, but that is not really what we want.

Hopefully, this can be put in the upgrade/want list, as many CERT teams do background checks and it would be nice to have in the general section of the member form..:)
