Calendar Event related notifications issue: Update

(1/1)

Olaf Walter:
Dear Mission Manager User!

On June 21st, 2023, we notified our users of problems we were encountering with Calendar Event related notifications not being sent out (Reminders, RSVPs, etc.).

We finally concluded that Microsoft’s recently updated security protocols were at the root of the problems we were experiencing. After significant engineering effort, that has involved us adapting our communication protocols to work with Microsoft’s new email security standards, our email and email-to-text applications are now, once again, functional. We are currently performing final testing of our updated communication protocols before releasing this update.
Whilst we have been diligently working to resolve these issues, some of our users may have experienced a number of unexpected emails and/or notifications. These unfortunate occurrences were the result of the original development work and, more recently, the extensive testing we have been performing that inadvertently caused a small backlog of messages to be sent.  You may have experienced this just last week.

We sincerely apologize for any confusion and inconvenience these occurrences may have caused you and your team.  We are working diligently  to resolving any remaining issues as we prepare to release our updated communication protocols that now comply with Microsoft’s recently updated security protocols!

Please watch out for the next major code maintenance/upgrade event scheduled for this coming Saturday night, September 23rd, 2023.
A specific announcement regarding this event will be made on the Forum as well as on our MM log-in page.

Another challenge for emails being sent from within Mission Manager via the ‘Messages’ tab, which at times resulted in bounced emails, is related to the default method for any Mission Manager Team Account using the free email-to-text gateway that most phone carriers so far have allowed but are now increasingly restricting such free usage.

The original Text is sent via email to the formatted address of the individual mobile phone number of all intended recipients of the text message. Though free to use, due to efforts by the individual carriers to mitigate spam, this method has increasingly shown issues such as bounced emails, absorption as spam, etc., especially if Teams send out large numbers of email-to-text messages at any one time.

To mitigate this challenge, MM’s customers are encouraged to utilize a ‘true native text’ Messager Service such as Twilio. This alternative method from within Mission Manager has been available for some time and has been adopted by an increasing number of our customers, especially the ones who already utilize Twilio for their call messaging.
Please see our MM Help Wiki under the help topic ‘Messages’ for further information.

Thank you again for your understanding and patience!
